Memories of my childhood include daring and reckless adventures (in the space, underwater, and even underground) that I relived through the novels of Jules Verne. Inspired by reading at early age I went on studying the literature in the Faculty of foreign languages of Moscow State University, where I based my graduation thesis on Knut Hamsun’s work. The latter has occupied the biggest part on the shelves of my literature preferences, for to me Hamsun’s style is the finest example of the word that simply flows. Among my other inspirations I would willingly name D.H. Lawrence, J.M. Coetzee and W. Faulkner.
