Today, let me tell you the tale of a world famous writer who had never written as much as a short story. Her only professional experience was that of a receptionist in a property company. One day this woman decided to pen down her dream in the form of a novel. And lo and behold, this novel, when published, topped the New York Times Best Seller list for children's books in 2005.
Ladies and gentlemen, this issue of the Book Lovers News unfolds before you the story of Stephenie Meyer- the author of the best selling Twilight series.
Though a graduate in English Literature, Stepehenie Meyer never thought she would become a writer. One night when she dreamt of a human girl in love with a vampire boy, she decided to frame her dream in the form of a novel. Her sister was enthusiastic about the outcome and convinced her to send the novel to agents. Finally Twilight was published in 2005. The rest, as they say, is history.
Today Stephenie Meyer has the disctinction of having featured in Time magazine's list of the "100 Most Influential People in 2008". She was also included in the Forbes Celebrity 100 list of the world's most powerful celebrities in 2009.
Following the success of Twilight, Meyer published three more books: New Moon(2006), Eclipse(2007), and Breaking Dawn(2008). All three books have also been very successful. Film adaptations have been done on each of these stories. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who play Bella Swan and Edward Cullen respectively, enjoy a huge fan following due to the popularity of their characters.
Twilight has been translated into 20 languages. It has been selected as New York Times Editor's Choice. It has been named the Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year. It is Amazon's pick for "Best Book of the Decade...So Far". The Teen People called it the "Hot List" pick. The American Library Association included it in the list "Top Ten Best Books for Young Adults" and "Top Ten Books for Reluctant Readers"

Praise irrespective, I felt I had to share this with you: I came across this interesting comparison between Meyer and J K Rowling by Stephen King which I feel I must quote:"the real difference [between J. K. Rowling and Meyer] is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer, and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good."
