This book provides guidelines for managing the life with spiritual consciousness in a uniquely interesting way. This book is a collection of tips of wisdom for self-realisation in real life. This book neither insists nor preaches about any particular religion. Originally from Chicago, the author Radhanath Swami has put his sincere efforts in this book, towards reducing the mental agony of mankind. The book tells us about the true values in life such as The Real Love, Gratefulness, Compassion, Charity, Contentment, Unconditional Service, Humility, Determination, Honesty etc. In this book, the author describes various things in the world such as the Mother Nature, the Mother Earth, Ocean, Moon, Clouds, Sky, Mountain etc. As per this book, the most dangerous creature in this world is the human being only. Social/Historical context:

In spite of the modern technologies and facilities made our life so comfortable, the peace of mind with the real happiness is still in question!. True values of the life such as humanity, real love, empathy, selfless service etc. are started diminishing. The man is going to become the ruthless machine. The book aims to reduce the mental agonies, sorrows in the real life by awakening hidden self-realization. The book helps to manage the life independently and peacefully using the spiritual awareness. One can read and learn many things from this book, in the areas of balancing the real life with true peace of mind with the Real Love. Instead of reading once and finish, one can keep this book always with him and read one or two pages daily and try to implement few ideas.

Writing Style:

The author conveyed the messages straight with a lot of examples with respect to many faces and facets of the real life. This book is neither a praying journal of instructions nor preaching holy texts. Though the book may not look like interactive, but it conveys messages to the heart.

My Thoughts:

The best spiritual book I read this year is “The Real You” by Radhanath Swami. I really enjoyed this book, since it quickly drew me in. Simplicity with inner meaning is the greatness of this book. I am slightly confused about the names of the God in this book. But I think the God – the Almighty is unnamed or nameless or who is beyond all the names. So this leaves new seeker in confusion, but if taken positively this confusion may lead to more knowledge acquisition.
